Ron’s New Skill

Tuesday, March 21st, 2006

The kids and I hung out Sunday morning while Rebecca ran some errands. Ron got hungry while she was gone, so I fed him, and was stalling until she could get home. He recently started eating Cheerios, but you had to put them in his mouth for him. He would try, and just not quite get there.

Jane, his ever helpful sister, decided that she wanted to feed Ron too, and he was happy for the assistance.

Common Sense

Yesterday Jane and I were playing with a ball that has two penguins inside of it; one big and one little. As I was rolling the ball to Jane I said, “Look this ball has a mommy and a baby in it. Or maybe it’s a daddy and a baby. What do you think? Is it a mommy or a daddy?”

Jane picked it up, looked at it and said, “It’s a bird.”

[UPDATE: See the comments for how Jane resembles her daddy in this regard.]

Hug or Tackle?

You make the call.

Can you tell Jane loves her little brother?  She wasn’t really trying to tackle him, but it kinda looks like it in the picture.  And he loved every minute of it!  In fact, Jane is the best at making Ron giggle and laugh.  All she has to do is jump around and act like her usual happy self, and Ron will giggle like crazy.  Which is fun and all, and (so far) awfully hard to punish when they are supposed to be napping at the same time.

JanesMorningGlories 6738Onion 6739So, you might remember Jane planting seeds a few days ago.  Well, several of them survived, and have sprouted!  We planted a lot more than two seeds, but you know, for being two, getting anything to grow is bound to be good.  Especially when you like playing in the dirt.

The onion is one that sprouted in the kitchen before we could use it.  So we decided to see what it would do.  Its slacking off a bit, tho, so I’m probably going to stick it in the garden with the onions I’m really trying to grow.

A Tip.

We learned tonight that if you throw a tantrum on a hard surface floor, you might hit your head.  Hard.  And it hurts.  Instead, a softer surface such as carpet is recommended.

It’s Broccoli!

Ron and BroccoliJane and LemonSo we had broccoli for dinner tonight.  And by we, I mean we all did.  Including Ron.  He wasn’t quite sure what to make of it, but we never saw any come out of his mouth.  Soft cooked is as good as pureed, right?

Jane had some lemon on her broccoli.  Or maybe it was more that she played with a lemon until she was ready to eat her broccoli.  Either way, she ate the broccoli and enjoyed the lemon.  She was also very nice and shared her fresh lemon juice with us.
