Tummy sleeping

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

Like his sister before him, the first time I know of Ron rolling from his back to his tummy is while he is sleeping. When I went in to check on him during his morning nap, he was snoozing on his tummy. A while later, when I heard him waking, I peeked in to see him look around and then roll over on his back to wait for me. For all I know Ron has been sleeping on his tummy for a while, but today I caught him in the act.

A Night for the Road

Tuesday, April 18th, 2006

Jane Built a RoadRon with the School BusWe had fun playing tonight. It was a road night. Jane built a road out of the coasters on the coffee table. (and no, we didn’t teach her how to do that) She had great fun driving her new kid’s meal truck down the Coaster Road. Jane was even nice enough to bring a toy over for Ron to play with: the treasured school bus! The school bus has been a favorite of Jane’s for a year and a half now, and she shared it with her brother. Ron, of course, was fascinated by the new toy that he could get to make noise.

Jane eventually grew bored with the truck and tried to play with what has been her favorite toy since August: Ron.The Kids Ron loves his big sister, and any attention she gives him. Even if the attention is hazardous to his health. She was trying to sit in his lap tonight. He was just happy to have someone to try to get his mouth on.

[Be sure to check out the previous entry, which didn't get an email alert sent out. Sometimes when you try new things, they work like you expect. That entry wasn't one of them. :-) But I learned from it!]

Busy, Happy Easter

Tuesday, April 18th, 2006

Ron EasterWe had a busy Easter. We woke up early, and enjoyed examining the family Easter basket Rebecca did. Then it was load up at least 7 bags, plus two kids, plus snacks, plus changes of clothes for everyone, plus sleeping mats, and all the other accessories that kids require, and out the door at 8:40. We went to LifePointe Church where we helped out with the kids ministry during their first service. We found out later that they had over 200 in attendance that day. Ron had a great time watching all the kids. The kids had fun watching Veggie Tales and singing songs.

Jane and Rebecca at EasterOn the way there, we watched for bluebonnets, but the drought has made this a sub-par year for wild flowers, so we met some friends at the seminary goldfish pond and took some pictures. It was hot, but fun. Jane had a blast pointing out the fish and chasing the squirrels. She wants to go back and look at the fish some more. Big expanses of grass where she can run are nice as well. Then to lunch with them, and hanging out.

Jane Easter EggJane and Christopher From there, straight to Team Church, where we had an egg hunt for the kids (4 kids looking for almost 60 eggs!). Jane had more fun on the playground than hunting the eggs! You can see her posing for a picture with her friend Christopher. Then home and collapse. Unfortunately, I didn’t get any good pictures of the egg hunt itself.

Oatmeal Cookies

Oatmeal Cooking 1Oatmeal Cooking 2Mmmm... Oatmeal CookingJane and I made oatmeal cookies the other day. Its been a while ago now – the cookies are all gone. (Ok, so cookies don’t last long in this house, but it was a while ago.) As you can see, Jane helped in several ways – she pushed the butter in and she stirred the dry ingredients together. Then she stirred them some more. Then some more and then some more, and finally quit stirring when I told her that she would get another taste when we mixed in the dry ingredients. She also helpfully cleaned the beater for me.

New Tooth!

RonTooth 8983 1If you look closely, you can see Ron’s new tooth, coming in at 7.5 months.  Apparently Jane’s first tooth didn’t come until almost 10 months, so he’s ahead of schedule for our kids. :-)

In other news, (but sadly without pictures), he has learned to wave!
