So, Ron has been ‘crawling’ for a while now. It’s really more of a hopping inch worm crawl: he’ll throw his upper body forward, both hands at once, and then drag his legs along – one of them perpendicular to the direction he’s moving in. He could get around pretty well that way, but one of his legs was taking a beating from being dragged everywhere.
We were telling some friends about it, and showing them how he gets around, and they said we should video tape it, because it won’t last forever. Today, he proved them right: Ron is doing a proper crawl now, alternating legs and hands. He still uses the hopping inch worm to fine tune his position, but for long distances and speed, he goes with the true crawl. Being young, curious, and full of energy, he finds lots of places to get around to, and things to get into. He seems to have a circuit that he runs until he gets interested in something enough to stop for a while.
But I didn’t get the hopping inch worm on tape. Oh well. Maybe I can get him to do it for me later, when he’s fifteen.
